How do I bring back lost items in K menu?

When I was installing WINE from the installation CD's, I noticed that when I went to open the terminal that all the K menu's icons have been turned to boring folders and a large amount of programs were missing from the menu! I would like to know how to fix this, as I've read it was easy, yet didn't see any solution.

try the following command from a shell

update-menus -v

This will rebuild your menu structure.

I know the update command fixes the changed icons, but did it bring back the missing icons you make reference to in your original post?

The reason I ask is because I noticed that with 9.2 our ami's at Mandrake must have decided to not include the same number of icons/apps compared to the same package install with 9.1.

Has this been your experience as well?

Yeah, it brought back everything I was missing, but then installed a few more packages that didn't really take up space so I didn't care.
