How do I add a new mouse theme?

I've been busy browsing the KDE-look.org pages, and have seen some nice things I'd like to include in my own desktop.

Installing seems a bit kaotic, It seems the cursor themes are either not recognised by KCC or I'm not doing it right (holding my tongue the right way), But I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to beautifying the desktop.

Any pointers?

Bump, Come on somebody must know how to add mouse cursors.

Please?

Check out the readme or install docs with each theme, some cursor themes very but if your using KDE window manager I think you can go to KDE control panel ( Main Menu, System, Configuration, Configure your Desktop, Peripherals, Mouse ).
Select cursor theme tab and at the bottom is an "Install New Theme" Button.
If you have problems write back with cursor theme name.

Here is a good one, I followed the instructions, except I use kde.

Create a directory in your home called .icons

Place the cursor theme directory into ~/.icons. The directory should have
the form ~/.icons/THEME_NAME/cursors

I restarted the X server. Then open configure your desktop, peripherals, mouse, cursors. and the new theme should be in the list.

That links for adding a KDE based cursor theme to Gnome if your using KDE its much easier . After creating .icons in your home directory just copy the files in the cursor theme ( Im assuming its a tar file ) and paste into .icons and restart X.
Thats if you cant install it by pointing the "Install New Theme" Installer to where ever you downloaded the package

Ha Ha believe me I know what you mean, Im a linux newbie, everything's hard to me.
Give me the name of the theme and I'll check it out

I did get this issue sorted.

I downloaded the themes from kde-look.org. Silver-XCursors-3D-0.4, Golden-XCursors-3D-0.8 and Premium-0.3 are some I liked.

There's heaps of things there. For the mouse themes, use the directions I posted, or the link I posted. BTW, you have to have "show hidden files" checked in the view menue of konqueror.

Im using the Blue Glass theme myself
Ok where ever the tar file that you downloaded is just double click it and it will open.
and you'll see a file named Silver-XCursors-3D, double click that file and youll see Silver, default, Copying, and readme.
All you half to do is copy these and paste them into your .icons file and restart X.
Typically the Readme or install docs in a tar package is a good source for info on how to install.
