Unhappy How can I change the permissions of /dev/ptyp* (chmod does not work)

Hello All,

I think I managed to break my Mandrake install...

Under kde, I cannot run any program as a regular user.
For example, when I start rxvt, I get the following message:
rxvt: can't open pseudo-tty

As root, everything works fine...

So I tried to change the permissions on my /dev/ptyp*, unfortunately it does not work. Whatever I do, they remain like :
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp0 -> pty/m0
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp1 -> pty/m1
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp2 -> pty/m2
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp3 -> pty/m3
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp4 -> pty/m4
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp5 -> pty/m5
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp6 -> pty/m6
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp7 -> pty/m7
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp8 -> pty/m8
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 6 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptyp9 -> pty/m9
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptypa -> pty/m10
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptypb -> pty/m11
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptypc -> pty/m12
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptypd -> pty/m13
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptype -> pty/m14
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 7 aoŻ 24 17:28 /dev/ptypf -> pty/m15

I did install several packages recently (order to have bluetooth working) but I don't see how this would have affected my system so badly.

I also looked on Google but none of the similar problems were applicable in my case: I DO NOT have the right permissions on my /dev/ptyp*, but chmod cannot change them.

Does anyone know how to restore the permissions on the dev files ?

Thanks for your help,

Guillaume
