Help with failed install?
Good day to you all. I hope someone here can direct me with some specific solutions to a failed install of Mandriva 2005 (ppc) on a PowerBook G3 (2000). I was in the final stages (a few rpms on the CD did not get installed, but they were not critical, IMO) where it was configuring the GUI. I chose the obviously appropriate settings (Rage 128 mobility for the card, Apple PowerBook (1999,2000) for the display and 1024x768 @ 16 bits for the mode. When it tried to test this config, it hung, so I forced a reboot.
I can boot the system to console mode, and I have networking so what I'd like to do is an update of all modules, including any that I missed on installation and the latest kernel. I'd also like to get the X server working, but so far it does nothing. I'm not able to post logs, as my alternate boot OS's are either 9.2.2 or 10.4 (both of which cannot read the ext3 linux partition.) If anyone has a clue to how to do this, it would help. I am not a newbie, having worked in linux for over 10 years, but this distro is not helpful to me. Mark Jaffe |
