Now I want tto givee mandriva a chance but dont know how to dowwnload it.

Go to http://wwwnew.mandriva.com/en/downloads/mirrors/2006iso and select a mirror near you. When you select a mirror you will see a list of isos, download the Mandriva Free DVD iso or the 3 Mandriva Free cd isos depending on which of the two you need.
