Headless server upgrade Mandrake 9.1

I have a server buried deep in the closet running Mandrake 9.1. There don't seem to be many updates around for it anymore (like the time zone thingy)?

What's the least painful way to update it to something modern, given the lack of a screen and a cd-rom drive?

Thanks!

If you have webmin installed on the 9.1 machine, you can use the rpm manager there,

I've found recently that upgrading and updating with "smart" is quite good and intuitive.

use "urpmi smart" there are about 5 packages for smart, one is a gui, and one a debug

(for the package or the system, I don't know)

urpmi smart will only get (or curl) what is needed.

You may have to update the database first. MDE has a good repository. (mde2007.0 with kde 3.5.6)

Except, it is no longer supported, and may be vulnerable to exploit ...

Well if you are concerned about exploit...make longer better passwords, and make sure your firewall is what is required...and make sure no open ports are running.

There have been major changes from 9.1 to 2007...upgrading most of your configs probably wont work
