hey i was trying to install mandy 10.1 official and ran into a little hich. The instal itself went without an error but when boot form the hd it hangs. It hangs when its suppose to pull up the mandy subscription and survey thing. the screen displayes the standard boot screen in the back the mouse comes up and then the screen flashes. Its still blue but it looks like maybe its zoomed in really close to something, and u can no longer see the mandrake logo on the side. Ive tried reinstalling sevral times and it gets stuck in the same place. I think its a problem with the display settings but the test option that is there normally is gone. I know its there cuz i used the same disks to install mandy on a freinds computer. I honesly dont have a clue right now so any help would be great.


alright ive got a git more information. i deciede to boot up in safe mode to see if i could find out wht was wrong and guess wht, i did(or at least i think) i found 3 problems in the X log.
i would put the file here so yall can read it but thats not really possible since im in xp.
the 1st problem is that it failed to load a lib named libglx.a
the 2nd is that its is looking for the mouse at /dev/mouse when its located in the /dev directory.
the 3rd is that it can seem to start the default x font.
i dont know how to fix any of those but i think those are the problems.


i foundout that liblx.a may just be the mandrake survey thing. how would i go about turning it off so taht it never runs at all.

When you install Mandy, I guess that you choose the option to boot directly into one of the Window Managers (usually by default KDE). You could always turn this option off should you ever re-install.

As for libglx.a, I thought that the GLX library was to do with display and improved graphics, some sort of H/W acceleration enabler. Are you sure that you have set the default resolution correctly? Can you move the mouse about, and of so, does the screen move around. It sounds like Xorg has defaulted to some window resolution which is too big for your screen.

What type of Video card do you have, and which driver does the MDK installer use?
