Exclamation Hal.dll error on Compaq Desktop

Hi,

I've this problem:
After installing mandrake 10.1 I get this error when I try to boot windowsxp:
<windows-dir>\system32\hal.dll not found....

How can I restore my bootprocess ??? Another problem is that with Compaq I don't have windows dir access...so I can't copy hal.dll into that dir.
Any tips???
