I installed Mandriva 2007. Everything went fine, but when I booted for the first time, I got only a command-line interface. I could login with the passwords I set, so I know the installation worked.
I typed kde, but it didn't work.
I have a RADEON X600 256 MB graphics card, if that helps.
Hmm. Radeon is notoriously bad for working.
I personally don't know whats happening, but Mandriva is a commercial operating system isn't it?
Can you request support from them? http://www.mandriva.com/en/individuals/support ?
I also had lots of issues with my ATI Radeon X800 256MB. I got the same problem in my first install as well.
First of all, I did the following in Mandriva 2007 Powerpack. If you have the free distribution, I guess you might need to install the ATI drivers from console. Then:
login as root and run
drakxconf
make your settings again. And reboot, lets hope it hope it works this way.
