Guarddog won't run due to "Bus error"

As far as I can see there's no thread addressing this problem, so...

I use Guarddog to set up iptables for my firewall. Went to run Guarddog and now it refuses to run, and the only message I get is two words: "Bus error." Nothing else.

I'm not hoping for a magical solution, but can somebody suggest what log(s) or other files I should look at, and what I should look for, in order to begin trying to fix this?

If it's of any help, I had somehow lost ability to use my CD-burner drive while in Linux. I finally got that back with help from a user on the forums, but now there's this new, seemingly unrelated problem.

Sorry to be so general, but with only the two words "Bus error" in sight, I don't know how to be more specific about this.
