grub lilo help

hi all, i recently re-installed xp and now xp has taken over my mbr and my linux os is now transparent, i've read the other threads but when i use my mandriva le disc, there is no option to recover the mbr, its making me go thru full installation of mandriva le again...does anyone have exact instructions after booting from disc, i'd rather do that than make a floppy boot disc, i don't have any right now....thanks!

Are you sure your mandriva disc doesn't allow you to reinstall grub? When you see the start prompt

hit F1 to see all the options. I have not used Mandriva, but its ancestors (ie Mandrake) has this option, so i would assume it is still on the boot disk. If this is not a possiblity, try a live cd and reinstall grub.

I don't know mandriva. If it use ( or You had installed before ) the grub bootmanager then it is simple to reinstall grub, assuming that You have a boot-CD with a grub-loader ( or access to grub after booting from this CD ) and You know where Your boot-partition is.
