graphics with java

I dont know if anybody has a problem with graphics but I read somewhere that installing java can affect graphics. It has with me. Ebay no longer works properly using firefox but it does using konqueror as I've got the jre plugin linked to firefox. Also my yahoo email is a bit sparse.

I don't suppose ther's a fix for it. Otherwise I can put up with it.

I have experienced some problems with Firefox and flash, in that it takes up quite a lot of system resources (CPU time mainly) when they are running. This is especially true of eBay as it contains quite a few flash movies.

As for Java, the only time I have problems is when running graphical java applets an other java apps, that seems to cause the applets to run extremely slowly.

But I'm surprised that you are having problems with eBay due to Java though. Did you use the Mandrake Java RPM's or download Java yourself from the Sun website?

I assume it is java as this problem began around the time I installed it. Also I read on another thread something similar about ebay not working when java is linked to the browser. I installed the rpm jre1.5.0_01 from Sun's website. My Yahoo pages also don't display properly but I haven't found any other websites which don't. They both work fine using Mozilla and Konqueror.

Problem solved! Under firefox preferences the box 'load images for originating website only' was ticked. Not sure why or why it suddenly started being a problem but now I've unticked it it's fine.
