god when my OS will work without problem???

Hi , two things aren't work well on my mandriva LE 2005 DVD:

-1° is while loading linux the ati module fail to install, why and what could i do to make to work this module?

-2° the alsa mixer gui open a window with this message

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory
I have looked every where for this line in the alsa.conf and in others file but nothing was mentionning this snd_ctl_open...... so i removed the alsamixer-gui then looked in my home directory if anyfile that the alsa mixer could left in to remove manually but there is none . IHAVE RE-INSTALLED BUT STILL THE SAME MESSAGE!

thanks for trying to help me!

Well for starters on the note of the ATI modules / drivers not installing, what version of 2005 are you using because that is a major factor. If it is the club edition it is included on the DVD. If it is the download edition then you need to go to ATI's website and download it. You might have to do a kernel compile but I am not sure
