Gnome 2.8 yet? and general rpm question

I've been looking around, but I can't find any references to rpms for Gnome 2.8 for Mdk 10.1 official.

I actually prefer Gnome most of the time, so I'm wondering if it's already available somewhere, and secondly where might one look to get a sense of what might be around the corner rpm-release-wise. Might we be expecting rpms of this anytime soon.

I imagine that making rpms is often the work of people very generous with their time and skills, and am just wondering how one can follow what might be coming out soon.

Thac's RPM has Gnome 2.9. I've never used it before so I don't know if it'll work.
