geforce fx go5200 config file

System Specs:

Dell 5150
3.06 ghz
30GB HD

Error Message:

(EE) NVIDIA(0) : Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0) : ***Aborting***
(EE) Screen(s) found, but non have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error
No screens found

I'm sure I installed the newest drivers I could, because after installation I recieved at completion code.

my XF86Config file and my xorg.conf file both read

Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "nVidia"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce FX (generic)"
Driver "nvidia" (I changed this according to the directions)
Option "DPMS"

Section "Module"
Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l" # Video for Linux
Load "extmod"
Load "type1"
Load "freetype"
Load "synaptics"
Load "glx" # 3D layer

(didnt have to change anything there according to the directions)

any suggestions please? Thanks.

There should be line "nvidia" (without "") in your /etc/modprobe.preload file, if you want, that X-server starts when you boot the system. Otherwise you must type "modprobe nvidia" (without "") as root before you trying to start X.
