gee wiz, my trash compactor doesn't seem to work!
 

here's a picture of my problem

the "New Folder" seems to be owned by root, but when i login in as root i cannot find the file in the user's directory. this is causing the trash icon to always show that it's not empty

what have i done ?

what can i do ?

oops, looks like i cannot upload pictures, so just imagine a trash folder open with a New Folder icon showing that the user does not have access to it and cannot delete it much less empty the trash
