I have just updated from 10.0 Community to LE2005 and I have noticed a VERY annoying thing: Downloads (direktly on the Mandriva Box or from the NATed LAN behind it) "pause" every 2 seconds, then resume for 3 seconds then pause again and so on. The FTP-connection is kept, i.e. the client does not reconnect to the server. This happens with every FTP server on the net.

I haven't configured shorewall to use any trafficshaping or QoS functions.

I am pretty clueless and a really don't know what to search this forum for...

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Try using the command line "ftp" to download something and post the output. Also try changing from passive to active mode or the oposite.
