Formatting problem

I am currently trying to install mandrake 10.0 64bit. I'm having trouble during the partitioning part of the install. I can create the partition table just fine and format the ext2 and swap partitions without a hitch but when it goes into formating ext3 it freazes up and gives an error that there was a failure.

I've tried erasing all partitions with partition magic and also I have been able to partition and format with redhat9 just fine without a problem. Why is it just mandrake thats doing this? And how can I format my drive?
