im linux noobs. It has been 5 days since i strugle installing mandrake 10.0 on my computer, and all wihtou success. I always got the problem when partitioning the disk. i erased all disk and use the auto allocation way on partitioning the disk... so the partitions are root, swap and home. the error always show up when formatting the home mount point. it always says failed formatting.. bla bla...

is anybody know to fix this?

Try to manually partition the drive. If that doesn't work, try booting to a Knoppix CD and use QtParted.

Also, check the md5 checksums on your CDs to make sure they are ok.

hmm.. i think the problem is with my computer. because when I installed on another computer it was fine all right. So, i installed on another computer then plug that harddisk back again to my computer, it was fine.. for a couple of seconds.

new prob arise that in login prompt... there is somekind of timer when typing for password. it's less than 3 sec i think. luckly my pass not long enough, so i had to type real fast. even after i logged in, when nothing type on the keyboard, the screen turns off, its like that windows screensaver, but in command prompt. but when i press smthng on keybrd, its all back again...

as for the RySk8er30 suggested.. i dont have knoopix yet... thanx for the tip though
