FN keys don't work.....???? (dell 600m)

After installing Mandrake 10.0 on Dell 600m some of the FN keys no longer work. Anyone have a work around for this problem.

It seems that the FN+F2 still works for the wireless card and the brightness controls and the scroll lock but nothing else I think. The lid switch also does not work. ?? Not sure if the crt/lcd switch works, don't have something to try it with yet.

The 'eject' command in a console ejects the cd tray but not FN+F10..??

I would like to be able to use the volume keys, any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

Have you try to compile the kernel with the dell module support???

Is the module included with kernel 2.6.3?

Yes i think : i have a toshiba laptop and with toshiba and toshiba-acpi modules I have acess to the wole features of my computer under Mandrake 10. So I believe it's the same thing for a dell.

Try the dell module(s) : to load it (or them) at boot up add this line in your /etc/modules.preload or something likes that.

#/etc/modules.preload

the_name_of_the_dell_module

That's it.....

Jgf

Ps : before try modprobe -l | grep dell to the find the module name(s).
