Firewalls...
Hi, I've just trashed windows for good and I'm focusing on security for the time being.
I was wondering, are there any zonealarm type firewalls for linux? A GUI is important, basically I want something that blocks all outside requests (preferrably to not even respond) and allows me to pick and choose which programs I would like to access the internet (blocking everything else).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Viper168

I'm sorry... stupid mistake.
I'm running mandrake 9.1
I guess it couldn't hurt to mention that I'm using KDE.

I really like guarddog, definetly try that out, as i think its the best for configuring the iptables and such.

I second (or I guess third...) Guarddog. Just take 5 minutes to read the Basic Configuration documentation (there's no way around this... otherwise ALL connections are blocked).
It isn't the same as zone alarm per se, but very effective and user friendly.

I am giving guarddog a shot, but having a problem in testing. I try to go to http://grc.com/default.htm and test using shields up, but it won't load the page... is it just me, or is that page down?

I decided to give firestarter a run, and now I can access the shieldsup page, and pass for full stealth (which is what I was going for).
Are there any other things I should do to put my security to the test?
