firefox problem mandriva 2005

firefox 1.0.2 came with this, firefox wont allow any extensions downloaded without upgrading to 1.0.4 first, which it wont do due to an error, ' cannot open....libstdc++ .so.5: ' I tried uninstalling version 1.0.2 first and the same error occurred. I've also downloaded the security update for firefox1.0.2 from mandrake update. No luck. It was easier when firefox didn't come installed I think. I'm thinking of going back to 10.1. It's just for the googlebar really.
