Firefox can not open any web pages mandriva 10.2

Hi guys a week ago I got mandriva 10.2 and installed it. I installed my new ADSL Ethernet rooter, I did this with Firefox but when I went to open pages such as 'ask' 'yahoo' and others. firefox does not open any pages at all. but Konqueror can open webpages pages. I don't like Konqueror looks and it's slow. how can I get firefox to open up webpages it's such a great web-browser. both of the web-browsers came with Mandriva. my Ethernet rooter is a Safecom SWAMR-54108. thanks

Why don't you try installing a newer firefox? The current version 1.0.6 is much better then the standard 1.0.2 on Mandrake.

You can download a package here:

http://rpm.nyvalls.se/10.2/RPMS/mozilla/

Careful with this repository thought .... it's said to have some broken packages, but firefox and thunderbird are working wonderfully for me.

If you have trouble installing the rpm package (rpm -Uvh <package name>) I'll help you.

[Edit to add]On "Edit" ---> "Preferences" there are some networking configuration. You could try to change them ...

Well .... I would try to look at konqueror´s settings to see what they are.

I would also see if other networking applications work. Does "lynks" command line web-page viewing tool work? Does "ftp" work? Anything other then konqueror?

Hi,

I have the same problem,

Router is a Safecom swart2-54125, i have Ubuntu 5.10 on Dell D610, connecting via DHCP Wireless, Konqueror is fine, however Firefox refuses to connect, as does Galeon/Mozilla. Same deal on my PC, running Suse 10 & Fedora C5. On XP tho, Firefox is fine....

Thunderbird works on all.

All help appreciated!
