Fire fox problem!!!!
I am trying to install firefox and have a problem... I have installed this in the past installs with mandrake but this time I have an error....... I am using mandrake 10.1
sixgauge@localhost firefox]$ ./firefox-installer
SCIM: im_module_init
free(): invalid pointer 0x820aa28!
free(): invalid pointer 0x820aa00!
./firefox-installer: line 56: 7741 Segmentation fault ./${BINNAME}-bin $@
[sixgauge@localhost firefox]$
if anyone could tell me what's going on it would be appreciative.....

Doesn't Mandriva come with Firefox? Can't you install it with urpmi?

I tried installing firefox as root and this is what I got

Try doing
gksu "./firefox-installer"
"gksu" should be already installed.

You might have a corrupt download. Have you tried downloading it again?

From 2005LE onwards it did but in 10.1 I think firefox was just a contrib package, which means it never got updated. To get the latest firefox people either had to find a 3rd party RPM or download it from mozilla.org.

you should try installing it from within kde or gnome
browse to the folder where you untared the firefox download and double click on firefox-installer
that runs the gui installer for firefox and you should be good to go.
