File Manager Super User mode

Hi all,

I have a problem to get File Manager Super User mode working on my Mandriva (2005 Lite Ed.) installation.

The menu item includes all what it has to (as far as I know), see this line from /etc/menu/menudrakeentry (ignore the icon, just used to be sure I use the right menu item):

?package(menu): charset="utf8" kde_opt="\\\\nX-KDE-SubstituteUID=true" command="konqueror -profile filemanagement" section="System/File Tools/" needs="kde" title="File Manager Super User mode" icon="/usr/share/icons/toys_section.png"

But it starts without prompting for the super User's (root) password and indeed: it just runs in my user-context.

Can anybody tell me what is wrong or can be wrong?

Please be noted: execpt the icon, I did NOT change anything: it was there after installation and just did not work!

Best regards,

Hans troost

You can easily access the superuser filemanager by pressing ALT+F2 and entering
Code:
kdesu konqueror

This may help.

On my 10.1 system the "application" entry is: kdesu konqueror /

Try checking the properties of the desktop icon and see if the application property looks like this.

Permissions in my case are Owner is me, not root. Owner can read and Write.

Advanced permissions: All can read and exec, User can write.
