eth0 freezes / hangs on boot after upgrade mandrake 10.1 to 10.2 (solved)
Hi,
Since updating from 10.1 to 10.2 (yesterday), the PC is blocked: "bring up interface eth0" and then the boot sequence stops . I wonder if anybody had the same problem caused by the upgrade? [edit 11/05/05] Solved the problem (press I, do not start eth0) then the network icon has some new menus and it is possible to disable eth0 and eth1 at boot time. Could not tell from var/messages why eth0 was not starting. Maybe it is this Howl stuffs that are new services, that I may not need, that were installed? So I disabled these as well. Now it boots all right I only have a 56k modem, eth0 is not connected to anything. Motherboard A7N8X-E. I did not have that problem with 10.1. Regards |
WHat if you try to connect the eth0 using the Network connection monitor in the Mandrake control Center? Does it still lock up?
How did you upgrade to 10.2? You just chose the upgrade during the installation? How I upgraded mine was to do a FRESH install and only create the "/" partition and mounted my/home directory. Maybe that may do the trick? |
Install was an upgrade, not a fresh install.
Will try via the control center and re-enable eth0 and let you know |
Used the control center (ended at the same menu as right hand click on icon)
and updated eth0 and eth1 so not to be initialised at boot rebooted fine then again updated eth0 and eth1 so *to be* initialised at boot this time rebooted fine, no hang So it is all well Must have been a quirky upgrade |
