Error while openning Gnome Terminal
Hello,
I try to use Mandrake 10.1 but there're just problems. I can't open the Gnome terminal (samething for the Konsole of KDE), it gave me this message : " There was an error creating the child process for this terminal". But, after rebooting the system, it works fine. What happens? CKota |
Hi!
I had the same problem after updating my Mandrake 10.1. I read somewhere else that if we removed udev from the initialization, the system would work 100%. So I went to /etc/rc5.d, removed the file S11udev and then I rebooted. Well, it looks the terminal is working with no problems now. After, I think I should read what is udev to understand what are the consequences... Bye! Edited in Feb, 9th: Now I know what's udev for: it is used to recognize, among other things, mounted devices, like pen drives. My pen drive is not being automatically mounted. Perhaps I'll have to re-enable udev again... |
