I'm new to linux and newer to mandrake. I'm trying to hook up mandrake 10 to the internet. when I try and run adsl-setup i get "oops, I can't execute the program 'NOTFOUND'. You must install the PPP software suite, version 2.3.10 or later." So... after that I ran 'rpm -qa | grep pppoe' and i get back "ppp-pppoe-2.4.1-13mdk" is that the same thing? do I have PPP software running or not?

I checked in /etc/ppp/ppp.conf it has my user name correct and my ISP, I checked pap-secrets and it also has the correct information.

can anyone step by step me through this? I am obviously missing something fundamental.

I'm not sure if this is related or not... when I go into manage connections and look at eth0 it has an old gateway in there from a route I added. when I type route I get nothing so I can't figure out how to get rid of that gateway either.

Forget the "adsl-setup". Try to do it as "lan-setup".

Install that PPP-PPPoE package! Who's your ISP, Sympatico?
