Easy way to install GUI from cmd line?

Hi there

I've inherited a functioning Mandrake 9 box with no GUI installed.
Before I start with anything, I'd like some advice from the experienced on the best way to get a GUI installed without crippling the system.
I'm not entirely new to Linux, but far from being brave enough to just go ahead and do things on the fly.

Any advice on getting a GUI (KDE, Gnome doesn't matter) up and running without much hassle.

Do you have access to the installation CDs? If so, your best bet would be to do an upgrade and install what you need.

Yep, got all the installation CD's.
