Easy URPMI Problem
Hi.
Whilst following the instructions in motub's posting about installing rpm's, after pasting the line from Easy URPMI, get the following error...
...retrieving failed: curl: (7) Connect failed
I checked the security level (standard), and firewall (not turned on - I know, bad idea ;-) ).
I have an ADSL connection, and can surf without problems.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It could just be that the mirror(s) you were trying to reach was offline at that time. I usually keep a couple of mirrors set up, so I can switch them out as necessary.

Was logged in as root (used su command just before pasting the easy urpmi command), and have tried a few times after without success.

Try reconfiguring using different mirrors, that usually solves the problem. You can also add as many mirrors as you want as Padma suggested.

Give them different names e.g. main and main2 for two mirrors for the "main" rpm repository.

I name mine using the "Prefix" box in step 2 of the Easy URPMI process. like "carroll-" as the prefix for the Carroll mirros, so I have names like "carroll-main", 'nl-main", "fr-main", etc.
