Dynamic Disk Sets, Installing Mandrake on them.

Running an 8G and a 120G
The 8 has xp running on it, while the 120 was unfortunately converted to a dynamic disk set. Has a 60G NTFS partition for my stuff, but I would like to install Linux on a second partition on the drive. My problem is that all other software, besides xp, cannot see, the first 60G partition. Mandrake Installer, Partition Magic 7/8, FDISK, can only see the disk as one partition taking up all 120G. Is there any tools I can use that could create a Linux Partition on a dynamic disk set. or is there any tools that I could use to convert my drive back to a basic disk set without having to backup 40G of data.

Thanx

BiggoronSword....

P.S. for those out there who think im an idiot for thinking of this config in the first place. It is known that if I have Linux installed on the secondary partition that I will need a boot disk.

I sorry I've never heard of this dynamic disk set, so I can only make uninformed possibly dangerous suggestions, so take my advice with that warning in mind.

Why not go ahead and partition the drive and make the first partition 61-65G just to be sure you got the whole thing.

Don't know if it would work and it may trash your drive but it's all I can think of.

Before doing that make a backup of the current MBR and partition table.
dd if=/dev/hda of=boot.HDA bs=512 count=1
