Question Dyisdappeared Menu Bar

The menu bar has half disappeared. The icons that control internet connection, smb networking and sound are no longer accessable. Minimizing a window makes it completely unuseable, I have to use system monitor to restore the window(s). Following an earlier discussion of this problem. I did the following as root in terminal:

mv .kde4/share/config config_backup
Reply: mv: cannot stat `.kde4/share/config': No such file or directory

Doing a search using Dolphin (kool app) and Midnight Commander showed no config_backup to be found, which would explain a lot of things. The actual file string is there, just not config_backup.

Currently the digital clock takes up three quarters of the menue bar.

Mandriva 2009.1 Free

KDE Ver 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4)

Thank you in advance for any help! :-)

Right-click on panel > Unlock widgets > Add widgets. Select System Tray, Task Manager and any other missing component.

Exclamation

Thank you Jim. It worked perfectly. ONE last step. I now have all of my sys tray icons back -- YES!

I still do not have the ability to minimize windows.

Sys tray is smack dab in the middle of the menu panel. I have tried to move them to the right freeing space for minimization; BUt - all they do is fly right back to where they were. I tried using the "more" setting under panel settings and they did not work.

Add the Task Manager. (You don't need to make space for it.) You can then re-arrange the widgets on the panel. With widgets unlocked, click on the cashew (the yellow icon on the extreme right of the panel). This puts the panel in edit mode and you can then click and drag the widgets to the location that you want.
