Depends on your bootloader how to get rid of the dual boot screen.
If you use ntloader & Lilo to boot and then select 'Linux', just edit the Windows boot.ini -file and remove the entry with the word 'Linux'. Check the wiki at wiki.linuxquestions.org for more info.

you could just format your D: drive under windows. I've also heard that you can put your windows install disk in a do something to your MBR so the bootloader is gone

Boot your XP install disk and select recovery mode. Run the fixmbr utility. You might be able to use the XP disk manager to delete the linux partitions.

Re: duel boot system
The easiest way to remove bootloader (mbr) is to log in as root and then type /sbin/lilo -u in Konsole and press enter.
that will remove boot-loader.
