both lamps on it are on so its synchronised, when i put in the command

Have you tried typing in the numerical address of a website yet? If that works then you'll have to setup the DNS server to get the names.

Hi.

Do you know how you connect to your ISP?

If you are using PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) this is a protocol used by many ADSL Internet Service Providers, then the correct commands to use are:

To configure your DSL connection at a console type the command:

adsl-setup

Follow the instructions, the answers depend on your ISP.
Once the configuration is done to start the connection type:

adsl-start

To test if the connection is working (and you got an IP address from your ISP) type:

adsl-status

To disconnect from the internet (login out will NOT disconnect you) type:

adsl-stop

If those commands donot work for you then you might need to and install rp-pppoe from one of the Mandrake CDs, or download rp-pppoe, from
Roaring Penguin. Make sure you read ALL the info on those pages, that's how I got my internet working!
