Downloading Mandriva Free Edition 2007 Help Please
alright...lol.... ive downloaded the 4 disc mandriva 2007 free edition with firefox download manager... burned the first disc with roxio... and the laptop i want to put it (which has auto boot disk on) acts like its about to boot it but then goes to windows... so its not reading the disk as a os installer.... what should i do?? haha
Get md5-sum check and do a check-sum on the iso, that will see if you got it all.
The md5 check sum file is available from where you downloaded MDV 2007.0 free.
Then and as well check the disk (Cd) on another PC.
see how you go, I'd say a bad burn of a failed download.
not sure if this advice helps at all, but i've seen a similar problem where i've downloaded an iso file, burned it to disk only to find it wouldnt boot from the burned image.
What i found recently with mandriva linux is that if you rightclick on the icon for the iso image one of the options was to burn as an iso (using K3b)... this seemed to burn the image in a way that would boot.... i only stumbled across this but it seemed to work... it may be that you need to check this out.
When downloading large files, its best to use a download manager instead of Firefox. You should burn the isos as "images" and not normal data discs if you want them to boot properly.
ke1thb oo, same problems here. Tried a few mirror sites, and tried to burn the ISO's on several machines and OS's, with no luck so far. Get the folders etc, but no boot files. Only suggestion I can come up with is to keep trying, just as well CD R's are cheap these days. I have burned a whole pub full of drink coasters so far.
Donīt know if this hepls: I've made bad experiences burning cd-r or dvd with burnspeed too high. By habit I never burn anything with higher than 16x anymore - I can afford the 4 -5 minutes it takes longer, cause in the long run itīs still faster than burning a cd twice.
Just my
hi all, further to my previous post.... i've partially re-tested the iso burning process.
Reddazz is right the iso has to be burned as an "image"
So, I found a small linux iso file on the net and downloaded it to my PC. When I right click on the ISO file, under menu item "actions" i also get the option to "write CD image with K3B".
If you click this option, K3B starts up with a screen called:
"Burn CD Image" and then does an md5sum on the file to check its integrity. You can then select your burning device plus any options and then "start" the process.
The above is very different to how you'd burn normal data files with K3B.
I don't know how this works with Roxio but suggest it should be capable of doing the same.
