Dont get LILO splash screen on bootup
hello,
just installed mdk 9.1 on ibm e pro desktop and I noticed i dont get the blue bootup screen like i have on my laptop. All messages are in plain text mode like in a DOS window.I looked in MCC under BOOT and I see I dont have the options to pick boot splash screens. Is there some way i can get this to bootup w/Lilo screen all the way thru the interactive startup and also on shutdown..
thanx,
alan

first of all, your video card needs to support frame buffer to do that. If this is the case, then you're near there at MCC under BOOT, go to 'configure' lilo and on the first window click on 'advanced', now on 'video mode' choose any resolution you want with frame buffer support
Regards

i have a millenium g200 agp video card do u know if that supports frame buffering? I also have the "normal" option selected under advanced in BOOT . I see a choice for 800x600 w/16 bit frame buffering..

i don't know exactly about your card, but you could try that 800x600 /framebuffer option. If your card doesn't suppor this config, it will appear an error message at boot time, but you could bypass it by pressing spacebar, and once you log into mandrake, change back your settings
good luck
