Disturbing lines in x-windows

I have used Mandrake 9.2 since it become available. I,m happy about it but now i have got a problem which I think comes from X-window-process.

It starts when the log-in window appears. It looks like horizontal irregular stripes in about half the window. The login pane seems to be in front of the stripes/disturbances. The stripes also appears when I am logged in as user, (in some panes in some not). In some panes the actual text is not possible to see at all because of the disturbance-stripes.

My question is: what is it and how do I repair it? I have tried an installation update, but it doesn't help.
