I'm running Mandrake 9.1 I refuse to update to 9.2 for a while...I just got my MDK 9.1 install working since I was previously running a system installed off of bad cd's...so...we'll run this for a few months to make sure everything's ok. Anyways, I digress. I don't have a floppy drive in this machine (why would I need one?
). When I boot, it checks for new hardware and tells me that there was an error and I should check dmesg or output from syslog,b ut lists the step as "OK". I traced this down and discovered that it's looking for a floppy but can't find one. I'd like to disable this floppy check altogether....and that's what I'd like to know how to do. Does this involve recompiling my kernel and removing floppy support?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
PS. I checked /etc/modules.conf and I found no entry for floppy. Just one for an ide-scsi probe and an autofs entry (among other things...like my soundcard and NIC)
