Desktop icons problems with gnome

When I first installed Mandrake 9.1, I had a cd-rom and a really slow cd-burner. I removed both and installed a new cd-burner instead. The machine recognise the new burner, it's working great but there's no icon for it on the desktop. More than that, I can't get rid of the two old icons of the removed cd-roms.
I'm on gnome and I tried right-clicking on the desktop, selecting disks and than the new cd-recorder but it does sweet-nothing!
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!

So, if you click one of the old icons, what happens?

I don'y use Gnome, but in KDE there is the option to show/unshow mounted and unmounted disks (normally in KDE Control Center under look and feel). Maybe if you first remove them, refresh the desktop and then add them again it will show the current burners.

<Error displaying folder
Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "cdrom">

That's the message I got when I click on one of the old icons.
I searched everywhere in gnome control center for the option show/unshow mounted and unmounted disks but I couldn't find anything like that or similar to.
I just don't know where to look now...

Sorry - I don't have Gnome installed so am unable to help further.

Anyone else want to step in?
