Dell 4150 locks up when switching from AC to battery, vice versa

Hi

I posted this issue some time earlier in a general area i believe and am trying again here to see if someone had come up with any resolution.

Dell 4150, locks up when switching from AC to battery or battery to AC.

Also if you don't do either of the above, and just shut the machine down, it go's to the point where it says halting system and thats it. The screen remains on and so does the fan until you power it down via the on/off switch.

My main concern is the 1st issue though, mandrake has posted something on it on its Errata page, where they say "Add "nolapic" to the kernel boot options " .

Now I checked my Lilo config file and under the append section it said nolapic , but it still did not resolve this issue.

Just wondering if anyone else had a fix for this,

thanks.

well as soon as you switch from AC power to battery or the other way around, the computer freezes. the only thing you can do at that point is to power off and on again, as nothing else responds ,keyboard or mouse.
