On loading any File manager as ROOT I get :

There was an error setting up the inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was

Could not read netowrk connection list.
/home/mervyn/.DCOPserver_localhost_0

Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!

This repeats twice then I get a root login screen which puts me into the prgramme - but not as root.

I have tried Konqueror and Krusader

I am running Mandriva 2009 Spring Edition on an AMD64 Dual core 5600+ dualcore with 2GB

This is really annoying as I do use root file managers very occasionally

NB it also occurs with Kate when opening - It then tells me it cannot save configuration nor write to file keterc and kdeglobals and crashes

I have done Warm and Cold boots, kdesu, su, all no change

Try using "su -" to become root. (Note the "-" after su.)
