Darn, floppy no work in MDK 10 for me.

With supermount enabled, I could format it with Gnome, but couldn't copy any files to it. From the console it said "no medium found."

I disabled supermount and can't mount. It says:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/fd0, or to many mounted file systems.

I tried auto, vfat, and ext2 file types and it don't work. I tried a different floppy, but both I tried work fine in Windows on another machine. I have the same number of mounted files systems as with 9.2. I don't know what option could be bad... they are all the ones I have used before.

I even let diskdrake write all the options.

Here is my fstab for the floppy

Code:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto umask=0,user,iocharset=8859-1,sync,unhide,codepage=850,noauto 0 0
weird.

You may well have checked this already, but could disabling supermount have left you with /dev/fd0 still mounted? Have a look in /etc/mtab. If /dev/fd0 is listed in there then delete it. I have had this sort of thing before.

Nope, it is just flaked out. I removed magicdev and turned supermount back on and now it's mounting... but if I try and copy something, it will access the disk for a long time and then say "No medium found."

I formated and reinstalled... worked like a charm. I do notice that reading the floppy is very slow though... about 4x slower than copying to it. Copy to the disk seems normal speed. Oh well it works. I wonder if my 5-1/4" floppy wil work?

I notice that if you go in a de-select individual packages during installation of MDK 10.0 CE, it can get you in trouble. You are better off installing defaults or adding only to the main choice screen while staying out of the indvidual slection part. It is better to install bulk and then go back and remove things later.

I removed one of the games in "other" and it said it was going to remove xscreensavers and something else. I thought that was strange, but it must of removed a bunch more important stuff because when Gnome started, it screamed at me with a dialog about a daemon not starting and no menu items, configurations, or themes would be available. It was right and I had to reinstall a 3rd time to fix that.
