Damn - KDE3.4 and now back to KDE3.2 with old settings

I have successfully compiled KDE3.4 but I do not know how to get it running as the default when booting into XWindows.

I went into /usr/share/config/kdm/xsession and put in the last line startkde and on boot up I was taken back to the very first time kde3.2 gets launched.

I now have to redo everything eg KMAIL accounts, Passwords, kopete settings etc.

Is there anyway to get my old kde back or to move forward with my new KDE3.4?

What do I need to do to get kde3.4 running?

Ok found the solution:

in .bashrc in home directory I had to insert the following:

export PATH
export QTDIR=~/kde3.4
export KDEDIR=~/kde3.4
export KDEDIRS=~/kde3.4
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/kde3.4/lib
export PATH=~/kde3.4/bin:$PATH
export KDEHOME=~/.kdetest

Since I installed KDE3.4 to my home directory.

However, I had to reconfigure KMAIL, KOPETE, and some other apps - hope that helps another Mandriva user.

I am on Mandrake 10.1 and pleased to say KDE3.4.
