Creating a template for new user accounts (like /etc/skel)?
Hi all,
I've been asked to install Mandriva 2008.1 on a shared computer with possibly dozens of different users -- both existing and future users. For this, I'd like to base the KDE desktop for new user accounts on one existing template account I set up. The default KDE environment is unsuitable; there are lots of systray icons I don't want those users to access (e.g. the update and upgrade icons); also, I need particular icons on the desktop, and I want other default icons removed. Also, I'd like installed Firefox settings and extensions (AdBlock Plus) to be included in this template. In Debian, I used to simply copy a properly set-up account's home directory to /etc/skel, but for Mandriva, this approach doesn't work. So my question is simple: where and how do I set up a template for new user accounts in Mandriva? Thanks in advance, best regards, Richard Rasker |
