Creating a GHOST image of my ext3 partition

I have a Mandrake and WindowsXp system.

After hours and hours compiling and configuring Mandrake 10.0, I like that it works.

I would like to make an GHOST image and burn it with my DVD RW.

I have an bootable cd called Hiren's Bootcd and it run ghost program.

Ghost found my ext3 partition an write the image correctly in other partition (FAT32) (15 minutes)

When I restart Windows XP the file don't exist, what's happening???

Thanks

Windows XP is NTFS and not FAT32... that might be your problem

Excuse my.

My Hard Drive have 40 Gb and I partition with partition magic cd when it was new, my partitions are FAT32, ext3 and swap I don't have NTFS, and if I have it, GHOST write perfectly in NTFS.

C: 16Gb FAT 32 (windows XP)
D: ext3 LINUX 4,5 Gb non readable from windows
E: swap 500 Mb non readable from windows
F: 19 Gb FAT 32 my data partition
G: DVD -RW PIONER

I have an clean Windows XP image when I installed for first time my pc, burned in a DVD-R and I had restore 2 times without problems.

GHOST read correctly ext3 but don't save the image!!!

I think that GHOST is a dos-based program. If you are attempting to create a backup of your ext3, try Drakbackup instead. Then burn it to your DVD-RW..

Well, if I use drakbackup...

How I restore the image if I format the ext3 partition???

drakbackup don't create an complete partition, only copy some dirs...

I want something like GHOST, I have download the new GHOST and will try with it

Thanks all

Just make checkdisk chkdsk to the fat32 partition and file will appear ;)

clonezilla is the program you want. On the commercial side, Acronis works very well and is very user friendly.

Whoops didn't notice this thread was 5 years old! What the heck?
