Create Limited User Accounts

I would like to limit the programs my kids have access to. I would like to limit it to mainly the browser, games, and education. Just don't want them to get into the dangerous programs. Is there a simply way of doing this?
Thanks In Advance,
John

You can do this with PATH. Create a directory called /usr/kids and copy the allowed programs into /usr/kids. Then reduce the kids PATH to /usr/kids (you may also need the path to KDE or gnome). How to set the PATH varies from one distribution to another. It will be done in a file called /home/kids/xxxx where xxxx could be .profile, .bashrc, .bash_profile, or some other similar name.

In any case taking /bin and /sbin off the kids PATH will help.

i agree.
back to the "dangerous programs" issue, i thought linux already takes care of this by allowing only root to run certain programs, such as iwconfig. and is it true that the PATH solution does not really work if the kids know how to change the "dot" files to set their path?
