Crappy MandrakeStore (www.mandrakestore.com)

What's the deal with this Crappy MandrakeStore?

OK, so I decided to BUY Mandrake Powerpack 10 from the Mandrakestore. I am a newbie and was tired of fighting all the many problems I'm having with Fedora Core 1 so I thought I'd go for a nice "retail" package with documentation, etc, etc.

But after giving them my money and submitting my order they basically said "Thanks for your money... Now go away." There was no indication of whether the product was in stock, when/if it would ship, how to track, etc. When I tried their contact link I got a non-resizable, non-scrollable window where the important stuff was off-screen! I've ordered a bunch of stuff from lots of web stores and haven't seen such a flakey site in a long time. They since fixed their contact link but I can't seem to get them to reply with a meaningful and/or informative answer. It's been almost two weeks now with many attempts to communicate with no idea yet when if ever I'll get this product.

Any idea what's going on with these guys?

Thanks,

Utah

Have you tried serviceusa@mandrakestore.com, if you're shipping to the USA? I got an email a few hours after I placed the order saying they received my order. I emailed them asking how long it would take to ship before I placed my order and was told 6 days by someone in France, and 10 business days by someone in the USA, and after I placed my order got it within 3 days. So there definitely seems to be some confusion, however I did get the order quickly. Could you click on your popup, edit->select all->copy->paste to a textfile and see what it says? Or try a different browser? I can't be much help, but I feel your pain.

Yes, that was one of several addresses I 've sent email to. I did get a response that my order had been transfered to the "America" store for processing. But that's the only kind of response I seem to get. It's been 13 days now and it seems like it should have been here in 4 or 5 days. I mean, don't these folks use computers??? 8^) It also seems like that if it really takes them two or three weeks to ship a little 1 pound box with a few CD's in it that they should tell you that up front, before they take your money.

Oh well. Rant mode off. I'm mostly just POed because I want to start using and learning about it real bad.

Thanks for the response and I'll let you know if I ever get it and when.

Maybe their Windows server crashed and it was connected to their sales website.

Do you know what "chargeback" means? That is what your credit card is good for.

Here's a final follow-up on this. After waiting 19 days and still no indication of when this Mandrake 10 PowerPack will ship, I emailed them requesting to cancel the order. To their credit, they replied right away and said they would cancel and refund my money. Time will tell if they really do .

Since I was getting nowhere with buying Mandrake I figured I'd try Fedora Core 1 again. I reinstalled it for the 5th or 6th time (I'm getting real good at it) and so far it's been pretty good to me. It seems like a lot of the built in utilities are buggy but I've been having some real good luck with audio apps I got from "Planet CCRMA". That is a great site and I'll make a separate posting about that (good) experience.

Thanks for your help(s).
