Contents/Packages on Mndrake 10
where can I find a list of packages for each cd of mandrake 10? I tried google with no valid result. It would be convenient if there is a list somewhere instead of going through each cd one by one. Contrast this with slackware which has an alphabetical listing.

if you have mdk10 installed then go to System>Configuration>Packaging>Software Installation
when the window has opened up go to the "All Packages by group" drop down menu and change it to "All Packages by medium repository"
you can then expand each cd one by one and view it's contents

Thanks but thats a bit too cumbersome. I want a list that I can print out.
Going to the packaging menu does not give me an immediate list of ALL available in each cd. I mean if I go to 'install' it gives me a list of packages that I have not installed, also for 'remove' a list of the packages I installed. I want ALL packages in one list -installed and not installed like the package lsit in slackware cds.

Open a terminal and su to root then type "urpmq --list". That might do what you want.
Ted.

Oh well, worth a try. I don't know in that case.
Good Luck.

ok
here's what you do
first install gtktalog
then feed the cd's in one by one and get GTKtalaog to catalogue the disks
then you'll have the list you want
