connecting to a windows network


i have mandrake 9.2 on my laptop and winxp on one of my desktops, and they are on my home network and i have the samba packages installed. how do i connect to my winxp machine? is there an interface similar to network neighborhood so i can see machines on the network?

Hi emperorjordan, I'm a newbie but I think I can help.

To view Windows shares:
Go into your KDE menu and find Linneighborhood, it should be in the networking menu somewhere. It should list all Windows workgroups, computers, and shared directories. Double-clicking on a directory lets you mount it in your home directory.

To share stuff with Windows machines:
In Konqueror, right-click any directory you want to share out and choose "sharing". If you're doing that for the first time, you might be prompted to install a filesharing server. Choose Samba.

well i couldnt find that in the KDE menus, but i went to the control pannel and found a menu to mount samba points. so that achieves the same thing
