Configure Transparent Windows

hello,

linux noob here looking to configure transparent windows on Mandrake 9.1

i hope someone can help before i spend too many hours trying myself

I assume you're in KDE (default)?

You can make your console transparent by going to settings --> schema --> transparent. You can make your menus transparent under configure your desktop --> look n feel --> style --> effects.

The second one i was able to find, but not the first.

I am running KDE 3.1, so i not sure where you get settings at.

any help?

Load a command prompt in front of you. There are technically several different, but I assume (since you said you are a newbie) that you are using the default. Look across the top menu where you would usually see "file", "edit", "view", etc. That's where you'll find "settings".
